Knight Frank is looking to hire a Surveyor to join our Hotels Valuation department.

The role involves supporting the Hotel Valuation team with loan security valuations, fund valuations, and consultancy assignments for UK and some European projects. What the role will entail

 

  • The hotels team is well established and we are dedicated to providing valuations, agency and investment advice in the hotel sector. We annually advise on approximately £20bn of hotel and leisure assets and are market leaders with unique access to established national and international investors.
  • Based in London, our team cover the full range of hotel genres from branded corporate hotels to privately owned boutique city and regional country house hotels. We have longstanding relationships with our clients and a strong reputation as trusted advisors in the sector.
  • Our transactional and advisory services, whilst based in Central London, has the support of our extensive regional network of commercial and residential offices. Our international capabilities extend throughout Europe's key city centres. Worldwide, we co-ordinate with colleagues in the majority of the capital cities throughout EMEA, Africa, North America, India, South East Asia and Australia.
  • The role is to work within the valuation team to support them with existing clients and instructions. Whilst most assignments will be UK based there will also be opportunities to undertake assignments in various European countries. The role will comprise of writing loan security valuation reports for lenders and preparing valuations for specialist and institutional fund clients, but also undertaking a variety of consultancy assignments. The successful candidate will work closely with two Associates and Karen Callahan, Head of Hotel Property Valuation.  The role has excellent prospects for expansion with the associated career development opportunities.

 

What you will be responsible for

 

Business Generation & Fee Income

 

  • Have the ability to increase the range and quantity of instructions via business generation to ensure development of the department as a whole
  • Undertake such valuations as gained personally or are allocated by seniors in an accurate and professional manner.
  • Understand and be proficient in the use of all the office technology employed in undertaking valuations.
  • Attend events to promote the department and firm amongst clients and professional organisations.

 

Client Care

 

  • Respond quickly to client enquiries.
  • Foster the professional image of Knight Frank at all times.
  • Be capable in the preparation of valuation reports.

 

Professional Standards

 

  • Acquire and build a sound knowledge of UK and Hotel Property markets.
  • Take a close interest in the property press and the national press with a view to building up a wide perspective of the property market and related activities.
  • Adhere to all deadlines set for the completion of work.
  • Maintain neat tidy orderly file records of valuations, including computer files at all times.
  • Fully understand office records and procedures and be able to make good use of all the available information contained therein.
  • Maintain confidentiality in respect of all work undertaken by the Department and to be aware of what is likely to be sensitive information.
  • Abide by the principle of Continuing Professional Development as required by the RICS.

 

Team

 

  • Become an integral member of the hotel property team
  • Liaise with members of other departments and get to know the individuals and their markets both for the purpose of obtaining information in support of valuations and also to look for opportunities for cross selling of business.

 

Systems & IT competence

 

  • Excel – Intermediate/Advanced
  • Word
  • Argus

 

What experience you will need

 

Qualifications/Education Required.

  • Degree educated
  • MRICS

 

Career Experience

  • Previous valuation experience either pre or post qualification
  • Broad UK property experience
  • Registered under the RICS Valuer Registration Scheme.

 

Particular Aptitudes/Skills Required

  • The capacity for accuracy, attention to detail, an orderly approach to work and numeracy.
  • The ability to communicate facts clearly and in writing and to produce reports.
  • The commitment and determination to investigate thoroughly and seek out information necessary for the accurate valuation of property.
  • The ability to comprehend and make use of computers and information technology.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work loyally as part of a team.
  • The personality to engage with other professionals and general public alike in promoting the firm and building profile in a professional manner.
