Knight Frank Investment Management (KFIM), is looking to hire a Portfolio Manager to work closely with our Chief Investment Officer to direct the investment management of our largest separate account client portfolio.

 

Knight Frank Investment Management (KFIM) is a specialist real estate investment manager operating in the UK and Continental European markets. KFIM provides property investment management services to institutional investors based in the UK and overseas. We are wholly owned by Knight Frank LLP, the largest privately owned property consultancy in the world with 740 offices in more than 50 international territories.

Role:

This role offers the chance to work closely with our Chief Investment Officer to manage the largest client portfolio for one of the UK’s leading multi-asset investment managers. The diverse portfolio spans industrial, retail, hotels, offices, and high street retail, managed for real absolute returns and a strong income focus. Active asset management, including development and repositioning, drives value creation, with sustainability and a Net Zero Plan integral to investment decisions. Held within an FCA-regulated structure, the portfolio requires rigorous reporting, with opportunities to grow assets under management over time.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Investment Management of a portfolio of UK properties across the core commercial sectors against agreed investment and sustainability objectives.
  • Source investment opportunities, analyse, select and execute investment transactions in accordance with the agreed portfolio strategy.
  • Manage a small team of Investment Managers and collaborate with our Chief Investment Officer, Head of Asset Management, Head of ESG and support staff.
  • Identify, agree and execute Asset Plans for properties held in the portfolio.
  • Identify and execute disposals of assets in accordance with portfolio strategy.
  • Produce Client Reports including an annual Portfolio Business Plan, Asset Plans and quarterly Investment Management Reports to a high standard.
  • Work with KFIM’s Head of ESG to progress the Net Zero Plan and other ESG strategies across the portfolio.
  • Report to KFIM’s Investment Committee and Performance Committee as required.
  • Procure and oversee all third-party service providers engaged in connection with KFIM’s services including the property manager, lawyers, investment and leasing agents, building surveyors and other professional service providers, including the use of public procurement processes where necessary.
  • Apply KFIM’s governance process to the portfolio at all times.
  • Be an active attendee at KFIM’s Investment Committee.
  • Raise the profile of KFIM’s business in the wider industry through representation on industry working groups.
  • Keep abreast of changes in legislation and best practices that are relevant to our business.
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement encouraging the team to exceed investment performance and ESG targets.

 

Key Experience Required:

  • Experience and track record of 8 years+ managing UK commercial property portfolios for institutional investors, with expertise in portfolio strategy, transactions, asset management, and property processes.
  • Relevant degree and RICS qualification.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills, with the ability to influence Investment Committees and deliver across discretionary and advisory mandates.
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach, including mentoring junior team members.
  • Passion for real estate investment, with a focus on maximising positive societal and environmental impacts, and understanding economic, financial, and regulatory contexts.
