We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chartered or Incorporated Mechanical Engineer to join our prestigious team at Knight Frank in London. As a key member of our Project and Building Consultancy department, you will play a crucial role in undertaking a diverse range of instructions.

 

Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects - including: Design, project management, contract administration, dilapidations, landlord and tenant advice, pre-acquisition surveys, technical due diligence, and facilities management.

 

This role involves direct client liaison and management, with an emphasis on developing relationships and a network within the sector that will last a career. Responsibilities:

 

Professional Instructions:

 

  • Design of mechanical services to Stage 3 concept designs and beyond.
  • Preparation of drawings on AutoCAD is preferable although not essential.
  • Project management and contract administration, dilapidations, and landlord and tenant advice, pre-acquisition surveys and technical due-diligence.
  • Preparing and checking Schedules of Condition, defects analysis and building pathology.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation and CDM.


Business Generation & Fee Income:

 

  • Increasing the range, quantity and quality of instructions via business generation to ensure development of the department as a whole. 
  • Attend events and actively promote the department and firm amongst clients and professional organisations. 
  • Meet set fee income and instruction targets and contribute to profitability of the department.
  • Accurately manage own billing and fee income reporting.
  • Maintain and grow existing and new client relationships. 


Professional Standards:

 

  • To communicate fully with all stakeholders concerned to ensure that business is managed in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Absorb all aspects of information technology systems particular to the office/department and have an understanding of their broader applications and availability in the division.
  • Ability to clearly define the client’s requirements and liaise with client in a professional and proactive way. 
  • Maintain confidentiality in respect of all work undertaken by the Department and to be aware of what is likely to be sensitive information.
  • Comply with Best Practice Procedures at all times. 


Systems & IT Competence:

 

  • Hevacomp.or similar design software platform
  • AutoCAD (2012 or later versions) if preferred although not essential
  • Microsoft Office competent 
  • NBS Specification writer

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Qualifications/Education Required:

 

  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer qualified

 

Particular Aptitudes/Skills Required:

 

  • Member of a professional institution such as CIBSE, IET, IMechE, etc
  • Basic understanding of JCT Contracts although not essential
  • A full understanding of the components of commercial buildings and ability to describe the building services elements.
  • The capacity for accuracy, attention to detail, an orderly approach to work and numeracy.
  • The ability to communicate facts clearly and in writing and to produce reports
  • Willingness and flexibility to work loyally as part of a team.
  • The personality to engage with other professionals and general public alike in promoting the firm and building profile in a professional manner.
