Knight Frank is looking to hire a Building Surveyor to join our Building Consultancy team alongside market leading professionals advising clients in a full range of consultancy services through the cycle of property.

Role:

Chartered Building Surveyor undertaking a wide range of instructions across the building consultancy discipline, including: project management and contract administration, dilapidations, landlord and tenant advice, pre-acquisition surveys and technical due diligence on a range of commercial property.

Role involves direct client liaison and management, with an emphasis on developing relationships and a network within the sector that will last a career.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Generate business and increase fee income through new instructions and department growth.
  • Manage correspondence and enquiries in colleagues' absence, ensuring urgent matters are addressed.
  • Attend events to promote the department and firm among clients and professional networks.
  • Meet fee income and instruction targets, contributing to departmental profitability.
  • Manage billing and fee income reporting accurately.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Handle project management, contract administration, and AutoCAD drawings (preferred).
  • Provide party wall advice, dilapidations, landlord/tenant guidance, and pre-acquisition surveys.
  • Conduct technical due diligence, defects analysis, and Schedules of Condition.
  • Understand Health and Safety legislation and produce Reinstatement Cost Assessments.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to meet their requirements efficiently.
  • Manage time effectively, adhering to deadlines and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain professional standards, complying with Best Practice Procedures.
  • Act collaboratively and support the team with professional advice.
  • Seek cross-selling opportunities by interacting with other departments.

 

Key Experience Required:

  • RICS qualified.
  • Ability to measure buildings in accordance with RICS Code of Practice Basic understanding of JCT Contracts.
  • A full understanding of the components of commercial buildings and ability to describe the constructional elements.
  • The ability to communicate facts clearly and in writing and to produce reports.
  • Ability to engage with other professionals and general public alike in promoting the firm and building profile in a professional manner.
