ESG Manager, Property & Asset Management Team
12 month FTC
This is an exciting opportunity for an ESG manager to shape how ESG is integrated across an industry Property & Asset Management business, within one of the World’s leading real estate consultancies, Knight Frank.
The role is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the senior management of one of the UK’s leading Property & Asset Management businesses. The role will sit within the ESG Centre of Excellence.
Key responsibilities of the role:
The successful candidate should have a thorough knowledge of environmental, social and corporate governance, sustainability issues, and trends for the built environment.
The ESG Manager, Property & Asset Management, will be required to undertake (including but not limited to):
• Manage, maintain, develop, communicate, and implement ESG standards and protocols; ensuring the standards and protocols are monitored and evolve in line with industry best practice.
• Produce tools and resources for the asset management, property management and facilities management teams to use to achieve our client’s ESG ambitions at the asset and portfolio levels.
• Assess and monitor sustainability performance at asset and portfolio level; advising upon priorities and the implementation of ESG strategies, data gathering, technology utilisation, ESG regulatory compliance and project implementation.
• Help to develop training and thought leadership resources for the Property & Asset Management teams.
• Promote and enable a culture of continual improvement, encouraging and motivating property management teams to go above and beyond the minimum ESG standards.
• Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, providing advice upon ESG best practice, share data and promote innovation and decarbonisation awareness.
• Understand our clients ESG requirements and help translate this to site level engagement and strategy implementation.
• Develop and deliver training materials, tenant engagement and communication collateral.
• Produce case studies and marketing materials demonstrating team and asset level success. Share and encourage best practice within the company as a whole and the wider industry.
• Support, manage, drive, coordinate, and champion new innovations in ESG and sustainability which may include template development, process improvements, quality and accuracy improvements, technology opportunities and case study promotion.
• Attend and contribute to client pitches as necessary.
• Provide general ESG support, covering environmental legislation, sustainability reporting, clean technology, tenant engagement, ISO14001 & ISO50001, EPC/EPC Plus & MEES, health & wellbeing, waste management, travel planning, social value and biodiversity.
• Support assets undergoing assessments as necessary, including: BREEAM Refurbishment, SKA, NABERS, WELL, Fitwel, etc.
• Actively engage in the development of pitch material and communicate through formal presentations and informal interactions.
• Produce written reports to a high standard.
• Work closely with the ESG Consultancy team, including to refer new business opportunities.
• Champion Knight Frank’s own ESG and Net Zero strategies.
• Raise the profile of Knight Frank’s Property & Asset Management business in the wider industry through coordinating representation on key industry working groups.
• Keep abreast of changes in legislation, best practice, and wider industry ESG trends and priorities to ensure the ongoing provision of best in sector advice and thought leadership.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
• Strong attention to detail and produces work to a high, consistent, and accurate standard.
• Ability to independently prepare reports and presentations.
• Ability to develop lasting and effective relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
• Customer orientated – ability to be client-facing, an excellent communicator and presenter.
• Highly motivated individual – with drive for self-development and continual improvement.
• Excellent time management. Can deliver work under pressure and to fixed deadlines.
• Ability to think strategically, problem solve and manage multiple priorities.
• Resourceful team member and collaborative worker.
• An evident passion for Sustainability.
• Good English, grammar, spelling, and document checking skills. Required.
• Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Sustainability related subject or equivalent.
• At least 3-4 years’ experience within a Sustainability-related field.
• Experience of working with sustainability data, including knowledge of energy, water, waste & carbon.
• IT literate with a high level of competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge and in-depth experience of applying sustainability in the property sector.
• Experience of working within real estate operations and an understanding of the wider roles of property and facilities managers would be a distinct advantage.
