The Business Rates team consists of almost 25 specialists operating out of our Hub office locations across the UK. The team provides a comprehensive service including; Appeals, Rate Payment, Empty Rates Mitigation and Rate Audit. 


Due to the continued success of the Business Rates team we are now looking to expand the national service line into the Birmingham and Midlands area.  As a result, we are looking to hire a highly experienced, qualified and credible Rating Surveyor (Associate or Partner) with an established network, to set up and lead a successful Business Rates team in Birmingham. 


Main responsibilities will include:


  • To focus on both occupier and landlord instructions through appeals and empty rates mitigation
  • To build on the existing client base in the midlands and meet the personal targets set
  • To be proactive, enthusiastic and driven in providing the best rating advice to our clients
  • To be a team player working to ensure the Business Rates department meets their stated objectives
  • To help draft marketing material such as case studies and brochures for pitches
  • To maintain a high professional profile and be continually alert to business opportunities


Qualifications / Education required:


  • MRICS, IRRV or RSA qualified
  • 4 years’ or more experience in Rating
  • Drivers Licence

  • The experience and ability to make and maintain contacts for profitable development of business locally/sectorally
  • The capacity to promote the professional image of the Partnership effectively
  • The ability to formulate business strategies with the Regional and Office Head for the development of the district/sector and implement them positively
  • The ability to motivate, direct and delegate to subordinates, when appropriate
  • The capacity to fully utilise the Riverlake and Analyse software packages used by Rating Surveyors
  • Be wholly competent in the skills required as a professional rating surveyor and to perform this function to a high standard
